BLOODMOON

Every few hours the world might turn against you. Red sky, distorted sound, and enhanced monsters that hear you through walls. Sleeping won't skip it.

What is a Bloodmoon

A Bloodmoon is a hostile night event that can roll roughly every 7 hours. It's announced server-wide when it starts, and it's unmistakable.

  • Unskippable. Sleeping does not end a Bloodmoon night.
  • Red screen tint, distorted ambient sound, and atmospheric lightning. You'll know.

Blood Monsters

Bloodmoons spawn enhanced variants of normal mobs. They're faster, stronger, and ignore the rules you usually rely on for safety.

  • Spawn near players regardless of light level. They start spawning 60 seconds after the Bloodmoon begins.
  • They hear you through walls based on how fast you're moving. Sneaking hides you, running makes you a target.
  • They won't spawn directly on top of players or villagers, so a tight, walled base is meaningfully safer.
  • Better XP and loot than vanilla mobs, with a very rare cosmetic trophy drop.

Mob Variants

Three flavours of enhanced mob spawn during Bloodmoons. Each takes a familiar mob and makes it scarier in a different way.

Blood Zombie

Quick, strong, poisonous melee.

  • Speed I, Strength I, and an extended aggro range.
  • Hits apply Poison to the target.
  • Animated red bleeding particles trail them.
Blood Spider

Faster, hits harder, splits on death.

  • Spawns even in well-lit areas.
  • Trails web particles constantly.
  • On death, spawns 1-2 Blood Cave Spiders: tiny, fast, applying long Poison but dealing zero damage. Easy to squash, dangerous in groups.
Blood Skeleton

Inaccurate, but reaches further.

  • Fires multiple arrows per shot.
  • Arrows may apply Poison.
  • Less accurate than vanilla but shoots much further. Damage is capped to prevent one-shots.

Soul Torches

Soul Torches are the Bloodmoon's counterweight. They are excellent base defence.

  • Randomly damage, slow, and stun nearby Blood Monsters. The more you have, the more reliable the suppression.
  • Place them at chokepoints and around walls rather than spamming them on the floor.

Survival Tips

You can prepare for a Bloodmoon, but you can't outrun one. Stay home or stay quiet.

  • Don't travel during a Bloodmoon unless you're kitted out for it.
  • Light alone isn't enough. Walls and Soul Torches are what actually stops them.
  • Move slowly. Walking alerts them, sneaking hides you.
